The Department of Computer Science endeavours to imbibe the vision of the Christ University in its goal to “develop IT professionals with ethical values” and focuses on empowering students with competencies in theoretical, programming, communication, team work, organizational and management skills with prime focus on research.

EIT-2017, the Eighth National Conference on “Emerging Trends in IT” was organized on 2nd March 2017 by the Department of Computer Science, Christ University, Bengaluru.  The Conference provided a platform to deliberate on emerging trends in Information Technology by bringing together researchers, academicians and industry professionals across the country. It enabled to share and exchange information from academic and research perspectives.

The conference was inaugurated at 9.30 am by  Dr. Dinesh K. Anvekar, Director , R&D, Vijaya Vitala Institute of Technology,  in Block IV Auditorium. Mr. Anvekar in his key note address deliberated on various innovations, Six Sigma and his academic and research experience. Dr. Anil Joseph Pinto, Registrar, Christ University presided over the function. The significance of research in today’s world was emphasised by him.  The conference proceedings, containing the main research contributions, was  released during the inauguration.

The research paper presentations were scheduled in three different tracks. Around forty papers were received from various authors across the country and after a rigorous reviewing process thirteen papers were selected for presentation. The session chair for Track1-Data Mining was Mr. L Gnana Michael Prakasam, Scientist, Electronics and Radar Development Establishment.    Track2- Image Processing and Computer Architecture was chaired by Dr. Jayanthila Devi, Asst. Professor, Jain University . The moderator for Track3- Network Security and Cloud Computing was Dr. S. Kumar Chandar, Associate Professor, Department of Management Studies, Christ University.

Dr. Shivappa B Gudennavar, Additional Director, Center for Research, Christ University was the chief guest for the valedictory ceremony. Dr. Gudennavar highlighted the importance of publishing good research works in reputed journals. The paper titled Plagiarism Checker by Vijayalakshmi,   Monisha S and Naghma K from Mount Carmel College, Bengaluru received the best paper award. This Conference enabled to showcase the achievements of the past and provided thought processes to set goals for accomplishment in the future.      EIT-17 witnessed a good quantum of participants from across India.
